US raw steel falls in first 2019 week
US raw steel production decreased on week but remained up significantly on year in the week ended 7 January, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US raw steel production stands at 1.876 million short tons at 80% capability utilisation, down -1.2% from the previous week, when utilisation was 81%, but up 10.1% from the equivalent week last year, when utilisation was 73.1%.
