US postpones wire mesh duty determination
The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has postponed preliminary determinations in its investigation of imports of steel welded wire mesh from Mexico, Kallanish reports.
On 20 July, the DOC initiated a countervailing (CV) duty investigation on wire mesh imports from Mexico. According to the Tariff Act, the DOC is required to issue its preliminary determination in a CV duty investigation within 65 days after the initiation date. However, due to petitioners in the investigation submitting a timely request for postponement, the DOC's initial determination will be no later than 130 days after the initiation date.
The petitioners requested the postponement citing the need for additional time for the DOC to conduct its investigation and to allow sufficient time for interested parties to develop their respective records for the investigation.
Following the postponement, the DOC's preliminary determinations are due by no later than 23 September.
