US plate sales slow on-week
US plate prices are holding at $1,760-1,810/short ton for the second consecutive week, Kallanish reports.
For the equivalent week in 2021, plate ranged from $1,550-1,600/st.
“The plate business has slowed quite a bit, but we expect things to turn in September. Most buyers are very cautious about placing large orders right now. They are worried about further price reductions. My company is definitely holding back,” a distribution source explains.
