US plate prices remained moribund last week, though a building backlog may soon inspire a new price increase, Kallanish hears from market sources. 

Kallanish held its A36 price Monday at $710-740/short ton. All prices ex-works, domestic mill. 

“Plate mills have some backlog because of ‘project tons,’” says one Midwest buyer. “There is talk of another attempt to move plate prices up by SSAB in the next few weeks - but it’s probably a futile attempt, at this point.” 

Lack of a long-term infrastructure bill has frozen construction products like plate and rebar for the past several weeks.
