US plate prices weaken in quiet market
The US plate market is experiencing a slowdown and prices are slipping, according to market participants. While mills haven’t issued any formal adjustments, prices for plate dropped to $1, 450-1,460/short ton this week from $1,460-1,480/st.
“Business has taken a turn for the worse in the plate market. Transactional prices [have] fallen, creating lower margins across the board. Nucor should be in full force mid-July,” a distributor explains.
