US plate prices hold, mills backlogged
For the week of 13 July, US plate prices are holding in the range of $1,840-$1,870/short ton, Kallanish reports.
This is the second steady week, down from three weeks in June when prices ranged from $1,860-$1,880/st. All prices are ex-works, domestic mill.
“Expect incremental decreases starting in September. Scrap and iron ore prices are dropping, plate prices will trend down. Mills are backlogged into October,” says a buy-side source.
