US plate prices hold, increases rumoured
US plate prices are still holding at $1,460-1,490/short ton from last week, Kallanish confirms.
“The mills are backlogged through April, so prices will not change until May. I am hearing we will see an increase at that point,” a distribution source explains. “It looks like [Nucor] Brandenburg will be full speed ahead in Q3 ... currently they are having automation problems. They are talking about price increases for May.”
