US plate prices gain upward momentum
Plate prices increased to $1,500-1,540/short ton in the US this week, up from last week when plate ranged from $1,490-1,500/st, Kallanish understands.
“Scrap prices continue to increase, and mills are forcing up price indices because they have contracts on those numbers,” explains a distributor.
The prices of plates for the same week in 2022 ranged between $1,1880-1,910/st. All prices are ex-works, domestic mill.
