US steel import licences plunge in June
US steel import permit applications in June dropped 10.7% from permit volumes recorded in May, Kallanish learns from a report by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
June import applications totalled 2.42 million short tons, down from 2.7m st of permit applications in May, according to AISI's examination of the Steel Import Monitor and Analysis. June permit applications are down 15.1% compared with May’s final imports of 2.9m st.
