US mill shipments surge in March
US steel shipments increased 10.3% from February to March, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US mill shipments reached 8.299 million short tons in March, up 10.3% from February and up 7.9% from March 2017, Kallanish notes.
Hot-rolled shipments rose 12% month on month. Hot-dipped galvanized shipments rose 11%, while cold-rolled shipments rose 10%.
Year-to-date shipments stand at 23.461m st, up 3.7% from last year.
