US mill shipments slip in December
US steel mill shipments fell on month from November to December but remain up on year, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US steel mills shipped 7.8 million short tons in December, down -0.4% from November but up 6.5% from December 2017, Kallanish notes.
Hot-rolled sheet and strip shipments rose 2% from November, but they were offset by a drop of -6% for both cold-rolled and hot-dipped galvanized sheet and strip.
