US mill shipments rise in August
US steel mill shipments increased both on-month and on-year in August, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US mills shipped 8.47 million short tons in August, up 4.4% from July and 0.4% from August 2018.
Hot-rolled coil shipments rose by 10%, while hot-dipped galvanized shipments rose by 7% and cold-rolled shipments rose by 3%.
Year-to-date, US mills have shipped 64.81m st, up 1.8% from last year.
