US mill shipments rise in August
US steel shipments rose both on month and on year in August, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US mills shipped about 7.54 million short tons in August, up 2.6% from July and 1% from August 2015.
Year-to-date shipments are essentially flat at 59.03m st.
By product, hot-dipped galvanized sheet shipments rose 11% from July to August. Cold-rolled sheet shipments rose 6%, and hot-rolled sheet shipments rose 2%.
