US mill shipments rise 3.3% in May
US mill shipments increased 3.3% from April to May, cresting 8 million short tons, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US mills shipped a total of 8.056m st in May, up 3.3% on-month and 5.2% from May 2017. Hot-rolled sheet shipments led the increase with 6%, followed by hot-dipped galvanized sheet with 3%. Cold-rolled shipments remained flat from April.
