US mill shipments perk up in January
US steel shipments increased significantly in January, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US steel mill shipments reached 7.708 million short tons in January, up 7.5% from December and up 9.6% from January 2016.
Hot-dipped galvanized shipments rose 14%, cold-rolled shipments rose 13% and hot-rolled shipments rose 4%, Kallanish notes.
