US mill shipments fall in September

US mill shipments dropped on-year and on-month in September, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute. US mills shipped 7.77 million short tons in September, down -0.6% from September 2018 and -8.3% from August. On-month, cold-rolled coil shipments dropped -5%; hot-dipped galvanized shipments fell -9%; and hot-rolled shipments fell -10%. Year-to-date, US mills have shipped 72.58m st – up 1.6% from the equivalent period last year.
