US mill shipments fall in May

US steel shipments appear to have fallen in May, says the American Iron and Steel Institute. US steel mills shipped 8.142 million short tons in May, down -0.8% from April but up 1.1% from May 2018, Kallanish reports. Hot-rolled coil shipments fell by -1% on month; hot-dipped galvanized shipments fell by -2%; and cold-rolled shipments fell by -4%. Year-to-date shipments are currently at 40.504m st, up 3% on year.
