US mill shipments drop in July
US steel mill shipments fell -3.3% from June to July, though they remain up from July 2016, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
July shipments totalled 7.737 million short tons, dragged down by a -3% drop hot-dipped galvanized sheet and strip; a -4% drop in cold-rolled sheet; and a -6% drop in hot-rolled sheet.
Year-to-date shipments, however, were up 1.7% on-year at 52.94m st.
