US mill shipments climb in December
US steel mill shipments jumped 6.7% from November to December and 9.4% year on year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
December shipments stood at about 7.173 million short tons, the institute notes. Hot-rolled sheet shipments rose 11% and cold-rolled sheet shipments rose 4%, but hot-dipped galvanized sheet shipments fell -3%.
Full-year shipments were 86.533m st, roughly equal with their 2015 levels.
