US industry responds favourably to Japan tariff deal
The US steel industry is responding favourably to the announcement of a tariff rate quota agreement with Japan to replace the Trump-era 232 tariffs (see related story).
A "melted and poured" requirement in the agreement, which is meant to help prevent tariff circumvention and transshipment, was cheered by the Steel Manufacturers Association and the United Steelworkers union.
