US imposes quota system on Japan steel imports
The United States government has implemented a new round of its 1.25 million tonnes/year quota system for Japan-origin duty-free steel imports from 1 April, Kallanish notes.
Duty-free quotas have been allocated to 54 commodities, and import volumes will be managed quarterly. Steel products within the quota will be exempt from any duty, but imports above this amount will continue to be levied with the 25% Section 232 tariff. The set quota&n…
