US imports tick up in June
US imports appear to have risen in June, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Commerce Department permit data, the institute says the US imported a total of 3.502 million short tons of steel in June, 2.724m st of which was finished. That is up 2% and 5.8%, respectively, from May’s preliminary totals.
Rebar demonstrated the largest increase by product with 190%, followed by rail and heavy structural shapes with 30%.
