US imports tick up in July
US total and finished steel imports appear to have risen in July, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing monthly Census Bureau data, AISI reports that US total steel imports increased 12.4% from June to July, reaching 3.17 million short tons. About 2.416m st of that was finished steel, an increase of 6.5%, Kallanish understands.
Year-to-date imports, however, are down -25% to 18.877m st. Finished steel imports are likewise down -26% to 15.…
