US imports surge in March
US steel imports appear to have increased significantly in March, Kallanish understands from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Citing data from the US Department of Commerce, the AISI puts March import permit applications at 3.413 million short tons, up 25.4% from February’s final import tally. March finished steel imports totaled 2.479m st, up 19.2% from February’s figure.
