US imports of steel surge in July
Total and finished US steel imports appear to have posted double-digit increases from June to July, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Census Bureau data, the US imported a total of 2.978 million short tons in July, 2.179m st of which was finished. Those figures are up 19.4% and 17.5%, respectively, from June.
