US imports spike on-month, fall on-year
US imports appear to have plunged on-year in January but shot up significantly on-month, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel institute.
The US imported a total of 3.135 million short tons in January, 1.633m st of which was finished. That’s down -9.9% and -33.4%, respectively, from January 2019 but up 97.7% and 20.4%, respectively, from December.
