US imports slide in August
US imports dropped from July to August, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
US imports totalled 3.349 million short tons in August, 2.422m st of which was finished, Kallanish understands. That is down -4.8% and -16.8%, respectively, from July’s final tally.
Year-to-date imports stand at 26.561m st, 20.401m st of which was finished – up 20.6% and 15.5% from last year.
