US imports of steel rise in June
US steel imports appear to have increased in June, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Instiute.
Citing Census Bureau license data, the institute puts June total imports at 3.868 million short tons, 2.941m st of which was finished. That is up 11.6% and 12.8%, respectively, from May’s final tallies.
Notable increases by product include rebar, up 84%; coated sheet and strip, up 61%, and heavy structural shapes, up 40%.
