US imports finish 2017 up 15%
US steel imports appear to have ticked up in 2017, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Census Bureau data, the institute puts 2017 total imports at 38.121 million short tons, 29.558m st of which was finished steel. That is an increase of 15.4% and 12.2%, respectively, from 2016’s figures. The US finished 2017 with import market share of 27%.
