US imports fall in August
US imports appear to have dropped sharply in August, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing data from the US Department of Commerce, the institute puts import permit applications for August at 2.134 million short tons, total – 1.765m st of which was finished.
That’s down -29.6% and -4.4%, respectively, from July’s final totals.
