US imports fall in April, up big on-year
Both total and finished US steel imports fell in April, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Citing preliminary Census Bureau data, AISI puts April total imports down -3.1% from March to 3.315 million short tons. Finished steel imports are down -1.7% to 2.496m st.
Year-to-date total imports, however, are up 22.6% to 12.27m st and finished steel imports are up 11.5% to 9.444m st.
