US imports decline in September
Total and finished US steel imports decreased in September, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
September total steel import permit applications were 3.026 million short tons, 2.377m were finished. That is down -9.6% and -1.9% from August’s preliminary tallies.
Year-to-date imports stand at 29.587m st total and 22.778m st finished, up 19.3% and 15.1%, respectively, from last year.
