US imported steel volumes shrink in 2015
US steel imports fell away in 2015 when compared to those in 2014, the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS) tells Kallanish. December’s landings were also down month-on-month and year-on-year.
In 2015, imports of steel into the US fell -12.6% to 38.77 million net tons (nt). The biggest decrease was in steel from Russia, which was down -54.8% at 2.12m nt. Imports from the European Union declined -15.2% to 6.06m nt, from Canada by -4.2% to 5.8m …
