US import permits rise in October
US total steel imports may have risen slightly from September to October, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
The US issued permits for 2.774 million st of steel in October, up 1.1% from September’s preliminary count but down -4.7% from the permits issued in September.
Finished steel permits were likewise up 4.5% from September’s preliminary count at 2.203m st, Kallanish notes.
