US government backs integrated steelmaker carbon-capture study

The US Department of Energy is funding a carbon-capture project for a large, unnamed integrated steel producer in North America, Kallanish reports.  Ridgewood, New Jersey’s Dastur International will head up the project, which aims to capture up to 2 million tonnes/year of CO2 from the subject company’s blast furnaces.  Financial terms for the funding were not immediately disclosed.
