US drives Turkey's February scrap imports fall
Turkish scrap imports declined in February due to a slump in procurement from the US, while imports from Europe rose, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical (TUIK) data.
February's scrap imports went down -14.4% on-year to 991,786 tonnes, but their total average value/tonne grew to $274/t from $195/t a year ago.
The scrap-rebar price spread in February widened to $145/t from $130/t a year ago but narrowed from $170/t in January.
