US domestic scrap prices rise despite export pressure
Following the start of June trading on 3 June, domestic scrap prices in the US have recorded sharp rises, as expected. Price pressure in major export destinations has had no impact on values as US mills came to market with strong demand and higher prices.
US Midwest mills have increased obsolete scrap prices by $50/gross ton and prime scrap prices by $60/gt. Although some suppliers had been targeting higher prices, they do not seem unhappy with mills’ prices…
