US domestic industry lauds Biden’s new trans-shipment crackdown
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) support US President Joe Biden’s new melt-and-pour requirements for steel items imported from Mexico, Kallanish reports.
In his proclamation Wednesday, Biden effectively applies an immediate 25% tariff on steel items shipped through Mexico with origins outside North America (see separate story).
