Upward pressure on wire rod follows 232 tariffs
Import tariffs on wire rod have pushed prices on US products above world market levels, Insteel Industries executives say in their fourth quarter earnings conference.
According to chief financial officer Michael Gazmarian, Insteel’s average selling prices in Q4 rose 11.3%, following an increase of 12% in Q3. These sequential increases are in direct response to escalations in the cost of raw materials, Kallanish reports.
