Upswing in Taiwan containerised scrap import market weakens
The Taiwanese container scrap market remains firm. US suppliers are pressing for further price hikes but importers are beginning to show some resistance.
A leading Taiwanese mill booked an estimated 1,500-2,000 tonnes of containerised HMS 1&2 80:20 for December shipment at $297/tonne cfr Taichung on Tuesday, up $2/t on week. Last week, its buying price of $295/t cfr was $10/t higher on-week.
