Union leader reminds UK government to buy British
The head of one of the UK’s largest trade unions has given the national government’s elbow another nudge, this time on steel procurement.
Len McCluskey, general secretary of the Unite trade union, is asking the government to guarantee the use of UK steel in major UK infrastructure projects. He made the comments in a statement ahead of a visit to speak to workers and management British Steel’s Scunthorpe plant on 21 March.
