Union deal with Stelco gels
United Steelworkers Local 8782 has reached a tentative agreement with Bedrock Industries, the prospective buyer of the Stelco steelworks in Nanticoke and Hamilton, Ontario.
The former US Steel Canada works has been in bankruptcy protection since September 2014, when it was still owned by its parent company. The works was spun off as a standalone entity in October 2015, Kallanish notes.
