Ukraine scrap exports increase to European countries
Ukraine increased scrap shipments in the first half of the year to the EU amid the ongoing Russian invasion and blockade of seaports, Kallanish notes.
In January-June, the EU grew intake of this raw material from Ukraine by 13.1 times compared to the same period in 2022 to 89,800 tonnes, according to Eurostat data. In June alone, European importers took in 13,800t of Ukrainian scrap, which is 25.4% less compared to May, but 200 times more compared to June 2022.
