UK government supports British Steel on emissions allowances
The UK government has confirmed that it has bought EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) allowances for Scunthorpe-headquartered British Steel. This has in effect taken the form of a loan for £120 million by the government to the steelmaker, Kallanish notes.
