UK evaluates Russia, Belarus quotas reallocation
The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has launched a review into whether tariff rate quotas (TRQs) allocated to Russia and Belarus should be reallocated to other countries to avoid a potential steel shortage in the UK.
This comes after the UK levied last month an additional 35% tariff on Russian and Belarussian steel, as a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the support it received from Belarus (see Kallanish passim).
