UK advises Northern Ireland import via Republic
UK Customs authority HMRC issued guidance on 21 January to those seeking to import steel into Northern Ireland. However, in practice this has changed nothing and the status quo remains. HMRC did, however, officially advise traders to consider importing rest-of-the-world steel through the Republic of Ireland to make use of the EU’s tariff rate quotas.
