UAE retail sales leave traders no margin
In the United Arab Emirates rebar retail segment, construction contractor buyers are bidding either at the same price or below mills' wholesale prices.
Traders are struggling to elevate prices to achieve break-even. This week in retail, Emirates Steel Arkan (ESA) rebar is at AED 2,180-2,210/tonne, whereas non-ESA material is prevailing at AED 2,090-2,100/t. Values are delivered and on a credit basis of 120-150 days, Kallanish observes.
