Imports take significant Turkish consumption growth share: TCUD
Steel consumption is increasing in Turkey, but local steelmakers are not benefiting as a large portion of demand is met by imports, according to Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD) general secretary Veysel Yayan.
Yayan states that although there was a 66% on-year increase in steel consumption in December 2019, finished steel production rose only 10%, with the difference met by imports.
