Covid-19 slows Turkish consumption growth, steelmakers lambast imports
Turkish crude steel production in March grew 4.1% year-on-year to 3.1 million tonnes, with January-March output up 9.6% on-year to 9mt, according to the Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD).
March finished steel consumption was 2.7mt, up 34.9% on-year, with first-quarter use up 42.3% to 7.7mt.
Exports, however, decreased -23.4% in March to 1.6mt, and -22.8% in value terms to $1.2 billion, due to the coronavirus impact on the international steel marke…
