Turkish shipbreakers target increased scrap in 2018
Turkish shipbreakers target to increase the volume of ship scrap obtained for the steel industry in 2018, according to the Ship Recyclers Association of Turkey (Gemisander).
The shipbreaking industry demolished and recycled 185 ships of different types and obtained 800,000 tonnes of scrap for the local steel industry in 2017, says Gemisander's chairman Gun Alp Erdil. The target for 2018 is 1 million tonnes of ship scrap, Erdil says in a statement seen …
